Presque Isle is rich with recreational opportunities that bring together community, culture, and the great outdoors. With six city parks, a state park, and countless community clubs and events, residents and visitors alike can enjoy year-round activities for all ages.
City Parks and Outdoor Fun
The City of Presque Isle Recreation & Parks Department maintains six parks: Arnold Brook Lake, Bishop’s Island Ball Field, Mantle Lake Park, Peace Park, and Riverside Park. These areas offer swimming, canoeing, tennis, softball, baseball, basketball, playgrounds, and picnic facilities for families and friends to enjoy.
Aroostook State Park
Just minutes from downtown, Aroostook State Park provides a serene setting for hiking, camping, and canoeing on peaceful Echo Lake. Canoes and equipment rentals are available, making it easy for everyone to enjoy the experience.
Trail Adventures and ATV Club
The Star City ATV Club maintains miles of marked and interconnected trails across the county. With 6 miles of paved, well-lit biking and walking paths, Presque Isle offers an excellent way for walkers, joggers, and cyclists to enjoy outdoor exercise in every season.
Hunting and Outdoor Sports
Sportsmen will find abundant opportunities for hunting and wildlife recreation. The Presque Isle Fish & Game Club hosts an annual Sportsman Show each spring, celebrating Maine’s outdoor traditions.
Golf and Seasonal Sports
Golfers can take advantage of the 18-hole Presque Isle Country Club course, complete with a Pro Shop and restaurant. Seasonal sports like tennis, baseball, and basketball are available throughout the city’s parks and facilities.
Fairs and Festivals
Each summer, Presque Isle hosts the Northern Maine Fair, featuring tractor pulls, truck pulls, harness racing, parades, and family-friendly entertainment. A full calendar of annual events, parades, and community celebrations is available through the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce.
